Self-taught sculptor Ra Paulette has been working every day for 25 years in the desert cliffs of New Mexico, where he carves magical palaces. He finds caves of light sandstone that are easily chiseled, deepens and expands them, creating a system of interconnected vaulted halls. The sculptor covers the walls with exquisite carvings — each cave is in its own style. The titanic work of Ra is done completely alone, with only a faithful dog as his assistants.

In the caves, it cuts through windows in the walls and ceilings, and the sun floods the halls with bright rays during the day. Ra calls his mysterious underground palaces "primordial sanctuaries", in which a person, being alone with himself, can feel the soul of the world. He creates for his own pleasure and self-expression. In the meantime, he works, arranges a cozy corner for himself in the cave, which has everything you need for life.

About the legendary lone artist, the film "The Cave Digger" (CaveDigger) was made, which took the "Oscar" as the best documentary.
