A resident of the Philippines did not break her head during prayers, although it is difficult to come up with a more stupid story of communication with the deity. For four years she turned to the figure of the cartoon character Shrek, taking him for a Buddha.
A resident of one of the Filipino villages, having arrived in the city on business, decided to treat herself to a pleasant purchase. She looked into a souvenir shop, where she liked a small green figure of a laughing Buddha. The deity had everything in place — a rounded tummy, flowing clothes and a good-natured, albeit rough face.
The woman was not confused by the strange ears of the Buddha, not quite suitable for the "enlightened". They were more like antennas and stuck out in different directions. Well, if you look into it, then who knows what kind of deity they should be? The simple-minded Filipina installed the figure of the green Buddha on the home altar and surrounded it with flowers and incense lamps.
For four whole years, prayers were offered to the deity, until it turned out that this was an impostor. The catch was noticed by a more enlightened friend who came to visit the shrek-worshipper. She was very surprised to see the honor with which the green swamp giant was surrounded. Of course, after the exposure, Shrek was immediately demoted and expelled from the holy of holies of the house.
Figurines of various heroes of films and cartoons in the image of Buddha are actively produced by hundreds of Chinese companies. They release them not for the sake of sacrilege or a practical joke, but as a funny souvenir or decorative element.
