But no matter how eloquent the guide may be, the guests will hardly be able to feel the life of this place, to find out how people who visit there daily see it.
Cambridge, one of the best universities in the world, is visited by thousands of tourists. They are usually shown old buildings, marble monuments and other attributes of greatness. And they don't show what the canteen looks like on a student campus.
Shani Vietilaka from Sydney entered Cambridge last summer. For all those interested, she illustrated in detail with photographs one day of her university life.

But first, of course, a selfie. Shani is in the center. She is now a first-year law student at Trinity College, founded in 1546. Together with 30 other colleges, Trinity, in fact, forms the University of Cambridge.
Shani lives in a house (the language does not dare to call it a hostel), designed for 25 students, in the very center of Cambridge. According to this sign with the settlement plan, you can even find out on which floor.
This is her private room. All students are fed breakfast for free in the dining room, but the girl has her own refrigerator. And opposite it is a small kitchen.
Everything is quite compact and ergonomic.
The dining room is for those who do not want to cook on their own.
Shani prefers to eat at her place. Of course, such a view from the window! This building is more than 400 years old. The tree is probably the same age.
So, breakfast is over. There are no lectures today, but there are plenty of tasks. To fulfill them, the girl goes to the library.
But he quickly gives up the idea of spending such a wonderful day in four walls. And sits down with a laptop on the edge of the fountain.
By noon, homework is done. And in just two hours. In such scenery it seems better.
Here is the main building of the Faculty of Law, where Shani goes to lectures. Approximately 700 students study at the faculty.
Lecture hall in all its glory. Now some special event is being held here.
Time for coffee. A local coffee shop has recently started making a wonderful frappe.
Here you can also prepare for the upcoming exam. The bar is pretty quiet, and the chairs are the best you can think of.
At two o'clock it's time to go back to the room to change clothes and meet friends. On the way to the campus, Shani films the neighborhood. Beyond the trees is St. John's Church.
There is always something to do in Cambridge. Today it was decided to look into one of the many teahouses.
Baking and tea are very English. The assortment, however, is not the richest, so the girls try to go to different tea shops.
People from all over the world study at Cambridge. Natives of four continents gathered at the table today.
After tea — back to the campus. It's quiet here now, but usually tourists don't let you get through.
Shani needs to take a laptop and books for the seminar, or, as they say here, supervision. This is an activity that students themselves conduct, gathering in a small group.
Of course, no one is going to lock him up. There are designated places on the green lawns.
Such seminars are an important part of the educational process. There can be up to ten of them in a semester. And it takes several hours to prepare for each.
After the seminar, Shani goes to a student meeting at the Cambridge Union — the place where the participants of the discussion club of the same name meet. The photo shows the main hall. The benches stand opposite each other so that adherents of different points of view look opponents in the face.
In general, there are a lot of places steeped in history on campus. This is, for example, the hall for celebrations at Christ's College.
Tonight, Shani is going to a university dinner, to which she can invite her friends. It will start only at 19:30, but the question of which shoes to wear does not tolerate haste.
All Cambridge students wear robes. Each college has its own color. The cobalt is attached to Trinity.
The official part is followed by fun gatherings in the company of champagne.
Closer to midnight, Shani returns home to gain strength for tomorrow, no less exciting.
