Disco polo - the thunder of Polish discos

By Pictolic https://pictolic.com/article/disco-polo-the-thunder-of-polish-discos.htmlDisco polo is an exclusively Polish very distinctive music genre that has existed since the early 1990s. Simply put, this is the music of village discos, which has broken into Polish cities and has been thundering in the local clubs for the third decade.
The roots of this direction lie in a simplified version of folk, spiced with repetition, catchy (and minimal) lyrics, haunting melody and energetic rhythms. Disco polo has elements of Italodisco and Eurodisco, but nevertheless this genre remains exclusively Polish. It originated in the first years after the collapse of the social bloc, and was originally called "chodnikov's song" (music of the streets), because. they sold disco polo cassettes only in inconspicuous stalls in the markets. The biggest disco polo producers, Blue Star, are from the village of Regula, near Warsaw, partly owned by the Polish mafia.
