Difficulties of self-knowledge

"Double broadcast" is a documentary observation of the human body. In the pictures, naked people are holding photos of "hard-to-see" parts of their bodies.

If you think about it, all we see without the help of mirrors or a camera is a headless torso, we have a limited view of what is below the neck. Because of our anatomy, we will never be able to see ourselves with our own eyes from another point or carefully consider how our body looks from the back.

Evaluating our reflection in the mirror, we go through the first stage of self-identification: we analyze the outer shell and, as a rule, build our behavior depending on the results of this analysis. If a person likes what he sees, he behaves more confidently, as a rule, his actions are more effective and successful. If you don't like it, everything happens exactly the opposite. Some parts of our body we will never see objectively — the way a person sees them from the outside. This means that to some extent we miss the initial level of self-knowledge and do without it all our lives.

"The essence of the project is not just to give people the opportunity to look at themselves through "other people's eyes." It's also a chance for me to reflect on my own body, which I will never be able to see as a whole," says Meltem.
