In March 2023, Utah real estate agent Kouri Richins published a touching illustrated children's book. It was called "Are you with me?" and was dedicated to the woman's deceased husband. On the first page was the inscription: "To my wonderful husband and wonderful father." The book told about a little boy who lost his father, but constantly felt his presence. But as it turned out, the aspiring 33-year-old writer Richins was hiding a terrible secret that soon shook America.

In an interview with journalists, Kouri said that the idea to write the book "Are you with me?" came to her shortly after the death of her husband. Eric Richins, with whom the woman was married for 9 years and to whom she gave birth to three sons, died in 2022. The man was only 39 years old, and he passed away in his sleep. His death was unexpected for everyone, since Eric was not seriously ill with anything.

A month after the interview, timed to coincide with the release of the children's book, Kouri Richins was arrested on suspicion of killing her husband. Forensic experts found the synthetic opioid fentanyl in the body of the deceased. Its content is five times higher than the lethal dose for humans. Experts also found that Eric Richins took poison by swallowing it.

Eric Richins was in the construction business and doing well. In March 2022, when he died, his wife told the police that on that day they celebrated one very successful real estate transaction. At 9 pm Eric went to the bedroom and Kouri brought him a cocktail. She herself went to bed with one of her sons, who was naughty.

According to Kouri, around 3 am, she went to her husband's bedroom. She found him unconscious and immediately called 911. Paramedics who arrived a few minutes later pronounced him dead, which most likely happened a few hours ago. When the police began to find out the details of that night, the woman said that her phone had been on charge since the evening. For the first time, she took it in her hands to call the rescue service.

But the police experts found that she was lying. The phone was blocked and unblocked several times, and they also corresponded with it. Messages from the device's memory have been prudently deleted. Finding out who Kouri corresponded with was already a technical matter. It turned out that she talked with a friend who was repeatedly detained for possession of drugs.

From December 2021 until February 2022, Kouri asked him several times to get a prescription drug. She wrote that he was needed by an investor who was experiencing excruciating back pain. Shortly before her husband's death, she again contacted the man and asked to get something more potent, fentanyl is best. As a result, an acquaintance sold her up to 30 tablets of the drug, for which he received $ 900.

A few days later, during the celebration of Valentine's Day, Eric Richins became ill. But that time everything worked out. After that, Kouri bought another $ 900 tablets and three days later her husband died. During the investigation, the relatives of the deceased told the police that he had long guessed that his wife wanted to kill him.

A few years earlier, Eric called his sister from Greece, where he was vacationing with his family, and complained about his health. He said that he became ill after the drink his wife gave him. When history repeated itself on Valentine's Day, the man openly told his loved ones that he suspected his wife of trying to poison him. Eric's family claimed that he was going to divorce Kouri.

Strengthened suspicions and the fact that shortly before the death of her husband, the woman tried to make changes to his insurance policy. She wanted her to be the sole beneficiary in the event of his death. Eric found out about this and canceled the edits, and also removed his wife from the will. True, Kouri did not know about this until the moment the will was announced, which took place after the death of her husband.

Presumably wishing her husband dead Kouri could because of a real estate deal. The woman planned to buy an unfinished mansion for $ 2 million. She wanted to fix it up and resell it for a higher price. But the husband felt that the price of the house was too high and was going to ban the deal. Probably, it was this purchase that the spouses celebrated on the day of Eric's death. Perhaps the man told his wife that the deal would not take place, finally signing his own sentence.

Kouri Richins did buy the mansion, and the day after she became a widow. Without even trying to complete it, she immediately put it up for sale at 2.5 times the price. The widow was already counting the profit, as a buyer had been found. But the deal never took place, as the woman was accused of murder and now she is awaiting sentencing in a prison in Utah.

Fentanyl is a very dangerous drug that is prescribed in special cases. It was an overdose of this drug that killed 80s pop star Prince.
