It seems that it is difficult to come up with something new in this "branch" of modern photography. But not for a creative person — the Italian artist Dito von Teese (Dito von Teese) showed how world-famous paintings would look if their heroes took selfies.
The master of the ironic painting genre, Dito von Teese (not to be confused with the actress Dita von Teese), showed remarkable imagination and skill and offered a modern look at old paintings. We are used to watching the heroes of paintings from the side, from the artist's point of view. But Dito suggested viewing them in a new light — as if they had chosen the angle themselves and filmed themselves on a smartphone.
A series of paintings by the artist received an original name, in which classics are combined with youth slang — Classicool. For his ironic works, combining unfading classics and modern photography technology, Dito chose well-known masterpieces created by such masters as Leonardo da Vinci, Rene Magritte, Andy Warhol, Frida Kahlo.
In order to achieve maximum authenticity and convince the viewer that a selfie in a famous painting would look exactly like this, the master had to change the poses of the characters somewhat. Now we have the opportunity to evaluate what happened.
This unusual project is not the first for an Italian artist. Von Teese's fame was brought by a series of paintings "Ditology", in which the joker painted portraits of celebrities and famous characters on ... fingers. It was the word "dito" (translated from Italian "finger") that became the first part of the master's pseudonym.
