Children's and adult nightmares in pixel art Uno Moralez
By Pictolic https://pictolic.com/article/childrens-and-adult-nightmares-in-pixel-art-uno-moralez.htmlLittle is known about the Russian artist Uno Moralez. The real name of this guy is Stas Orlov, he himself comes from Ufa, but currently lives and works in Moscow. Uno has masterfully mastered the unusual art of pixel graphics, which allows him to create creepy atmospheric works that are frightening, but at the same time incredibly interesting. (Careful! NSFW: There is psychota and nudity in the material)
An important feature of the paintings of Uno Morales is that in his works he does not just draw nightmares, but displays phobias typical of people of different ages.
In the plots of Uno, you can find both well-recognized elements of the pioneer folklore of the Soviet era, and mystical images, the origin of which can only be explained by the author himself. The artist masterfully dissects fears, showing us what we can not always describe in words.
In the paintings of Uno, the European pointillism of the early XX century is closely intertwined with the traditional style of Soviet children's magazines. In the paintings, it is easy to notice the influence of Japanese anime culture and the American advertising style of the 50-60 years of the last century.
Morales perfectly owns his difficult technique and it is the graininess of the image that creates a special, disturbing atmosphere even in the illustrations that are harmless at first glance. You can return to viewing each work of Uno repeatedly and there is always a chance to discover new, previously unnoticed details.
It says a lot that Uno Morales is one of the few Russian digital artists who are not ignored by gallery owners. Stas ' works are eagerly exhibited in different cities of Russia and they become a real event for many connoisseurs of modern graphics.
