Doctor and TV presenter from the UK Chris van Tulleken (Chris van Tulleken) decided to show that the products can actually be dangerous and did not spare his own body for this. He ate super-processed foods for a month, and then shared the result, which can not but surprise.
Scientists estimate that more than half of the energy of modern Britons is obtained from semi-finished products and other super-processed products. Some people even believe that they cause addiction and make people eat more and more often. In the UK, one in four adults and one in five children have problems with extra pounds.
Chris van Tulleken, the host of the popular TV show "What we feed our children", wanted to know exactly how fast food affects the human body, in order to dispel conflicting rumors and all sorts of speculation on this topic. For the experiment, Tulleken increased the amount of fast food in his diet from 30 to 80% and lasted on this terrible diet for 4 weeks. Everyone could follow the course of the experiment in the presenter's program.
The products that the man chose for himself were saturated with all the "delights" of super-processed fast food, such as emulsifiers, stabilizers, preservatives, dry substances and flavorings. Before plunging into the dangerous world of fast food, Chris joked that his menu looks very extreme, but do not be afraid, as it is a common food of every fifth Briton.
A month later, summing up the results, van Tulleken said that the harm from over-processed products is obvious. The Briton said that he feels aged in 4 weeks for 10 years. His sleep worsened, he became restless and lethargic, his libido decreased, and he also developed hemorrhoids due to constant constipation.
The changes that have befallen Chris are noticeable to the naked eye – in just a month, he gained 7 kg and moved to the category of people with excess weight. The TV presenter is sure that if the experiment lasted six months, he would have gained 40 kg. The consumption of junk food was reflected in van Tulleken's face, which was not only swollen, but also lost its healthy color.
In order to fully study the negative effect of fast food on the body, the host subjected himself to all sorts of studies. Brain activity scans revealed that the reward-generating area of Chris ' brain had established a strong connection with the area responsible for automatically repeating actions.
Chris van Tulleken said that he wanted to protect his family from dangerous foods, so he ate separately from his family, in another room. But this did not help, and soon he noticed that his wife and child began to take a little of his products and also gradually became addicted to them. This turned out to be another previously unknown danger – the love of fast food is "contagious" and can affect people living nearby.
