1. The 33-year-old tattoo aficionado has taken it one step further by giving the outlines of his tattoos a voluminous look. To do this, tattoo artists used the same tool that dentists use to drill teeth.

2. In total, the UK's most tattooed man spent more than 300 hours in a chair and paid almost forty thousand dollars to decorate his body with drawings.

3. The 33-year-old also changed his name to the King of Extreme Body Art, short for King Inkland.

4. Matthew Whelan says that body modification is a culture, a way of life and almost a religion. Through body art, a person can tell the world about their beliefs in paint. A man volunteers at the Liberal Democratic Party office in Birmingham.

5. “I have so much respect for the history of modifiers. It's art and culture, and when a group of kids look at me on the street, I stop and talk to them. I tell them the history of body art. I and people like me believe that our body is a temple. Just as Christians have Jesus, we have our bodies,” says Whelan.

6. He says that he first wanted to get tattoos on his body at the age of nine, after seeing them from his father and uncle. The enthusiast made his first tattoo at the age of 16. Among the designs that cover 80 percent of his body are snakes, scorpions, eyeballs and vampires, and one of the man's eyes is covered with special white paint.

7. “I am fully aware of the risks to my eyes. Before doing this, I turned to ophthalmologists and listened to several opinions,” he said.

8. The man created his own non-profit organization called Change, which helps people with body modifications get jobs.

“For me, it's a way of life. I have a personal belief in the beauty of the skin and body. I don't understand why someone should be discriminated against just because they don't look like others. Therefore, I want to help these people,” he said.

10. “When I die, I want my body to be donated to a museum or to members of my family. Someone from Canada has already asked me for my skull to use as a paint can,” Matthew added.
