Bristol police had to dive to the bottom of the bay to return the girl her lost engagement ring with a diamond. Nicola Hazell, 35, lost her ring in Bristol Bay while rowing early in the morning. She gave it to her friend to put the jewelry in her purse, and as soon as they landed, she asked for it back, but the ring was nowhere to be found.

Desperate to return the ring, the girl turned to the port captain, who agreed to help and attracted a local team of police divers. The members of the underwater search team who trained in the port were tasked with finding Nikola's ring. And the most amazing thing is that they succeeded.

Nicola is due to marry 29-year-old Duncan Murdoch in a month and a half. She tells: "Losing the ring was terrible. I was beside myself with grief. It's such a classic, beautiful ring. I just had no idea where it could have gone. I thought, "How am I going to get it back now?" We refused to believe that we wouldn't find him. To lose such an important thing is a terrible feeling."

Nikola lost a palladium ring with a single large diamond on July 9 and spent hours looking for it with her friends, but to no avail. The girl's luck returned when the port captain noticed one of her desperate posts on social networks and offered to involve the police in the search. Nikola met with divers at the port and pointed to a section of water about 25 × 5 meters in size, where she thought she had lost the ring.

The divers warned the girl that they were unlikely to find something so small and light, but they started searching. Just 45 minutes later, one of them, Mike Loveless, emerged from the water with a ring in his hand.

"When they called me and said they had found him, I cried. I was absolutely stunned. It was incredible. He called me and said, "We need to come and identify the ring." And I began to cry. When it was returned to me, I was trembling and constantly looking at it. I will never take it with me to rowing lessons again, it will be stored in a very safe place," the girl says.

"Since I don't like walking around with an empty finger, Duncan bought me a ring for £8.99 at Argos department store. And I immediately took it off. Words cannot express how grateful I am to the divers. I just can't believe they did this. I will forever be indebted to them. It's amazing."

Diver Michael Loveless, who found the ring, tells: "I wasn't sure we'd find him, but we did. There are a lot of shells at the bottom of the docks, and the ring fell between them. I had already swum past it and on the way back I began to skim through the bottom, and it was lying there, at the bottom. I was very surprised and happy for the lady."

Nicola and Duncan will get married on September 23. We hope that they won't lose anything else before the wedding.
