Arm Wrestler Jeff Deib: Mr. Huge Hands

Fifty-year-old Jeff Deib lives in Stacy, Minnesota, USA. A man has been engaged in arm wrestling, one might say, since childhood — the athlete performed for the first time 35 years ago. Jeff has not reached incredible heights in his sport, but everyone knows him as a man with big hands.

To be honest, Deib's hands are not just big — they are huge if you take into account the overall proportions of the body and height. When a very young athlete took his first steps in arm wrestling, and it was in the distant 70s, many were surprised by the big hands and massive shoulders of the guy. Over the years, Jeff's limbs have become even larger and now he is being compared to the cartoon and comic book hero Popeye the Sailor. At the moment, the circumference of the athlete's forearm is 49 cm, and his palm wraps around a basketball.

But, as we have already said, in hand wrestling, not only physical data are important, but also technique. A mistake during one of the competitions in 1986 cost the man dearly. Jeff suffered a serious injury to his right forearm, which could permanently deprive him of the opportunity to perform. The athlete left the big sport for many years and returned only in 2012, to the delight of his fans who still remembered him.

This deprived the arm wrestler of the opportunity to perform at international competitions, but also in The USA has a place for him to turn around. Returning to the sport, the man eagerly began to catch up — in 2014 he reached the finals of the prestigious World Armwrestling League (WAL) tournament, and a year later he won third place at the Northern Region-2015 competition.
