For this reason, tourists are happy to visit the ruins, and not only ancient, but also modern. Among such colorful abandoned buildings that attract a lot of tourists, one can name the luxurious Hachijo Royal Hotel, which was once an ornament and an integral part of the volcanic island of Hachijo-jima in Japan.
This hotel on a Japanese island has been empty for ten years. Closed for unprofitability, it was abandoned by people at the mercy of nature in 2005, but it is very well preserved.
Hachijo-jima is a volcanic island in the Philippine Sea, belonging to the Izu Archipelago. The island is located 287 kilometers south of the special districts of Tokyo and belongs to the Izu Archipelago, which is administered by the Tokyo Administration.
It is here that the abandoned Hachijo Royal Hotel is located, which attracts a huge number of tourists even today.
Nature has long defeated civilization here, and the hotel, abandoned in 2005, has turned into a jungle, where remnants of former luxury can be seen through centimeters of moss and grass.
This luxury hotel was closed, and then completely abandoned. No one knows the exact reason for this, so over time, many versions were born, ranging from purely practical (the danger of a volcanic eruption) to mystical (mysterious and inexplicable things happened to hotel visitors).
Despite the frequent typhoons, Hachijo Island was very popular among tourists and used to be called Japanese Hawaii. However, over time, the hotel became unprofitable, and it was closed.
After the closure in 2006, the Japanese film Torikku Gekijouban 2 ("Trick: The Second Film") was filmed here.
