Amazon's new head of screenwriting, Sharon Tal Iguado, said: "The Lord of the Rings has become a cultural phenomenon that has captured the imagination of generations of fans through literature and the big screen."
Matt Galsor, a representative of Tolkien Estate and publisher of HarperCollins, said that Amazon, with its long-standing love and dedication to literature, will have the honor to bring "The Lord of the Rings" to the screen in the form of a series.
