This is a indigenous plant of the Old world, it grows from Cape Verde and Canary Islands, southern Europe to Northern and Eastern Africa, the Mediterranean, South-West Africa to the South-East of India. A species of this genus are grown for ornamental jewelry, as well as for obtaining essential oils. Having excellent flavor and beautiful purple color, lavender fields attract photographers from around the world. Extensive purple "of the sea" are a great subject for photography. Don't believe?
