Amazing coin carving
Categories: Exhibition
By Pictolic https://pictolic.com/article/amazing-coin-carving.htmlThe art of coin carving is a popular way to turn coins into jewelry, or rather, pendants and pendants. The authors of these works are not limited to simply drilling a hole in the coin, but go further in their work, using a jewelry jigsaw (with various types of blades) to cut out the protruding part of the coin.
Most artists use existing images on the coin, cutting out the space around them, eventually getting an openwork pattern inside a round frame. Others prefer to carve their own shapes.
1. Bronze Halfpenny – Great Britain, 1959
In the photos, all the coins are shown in an enlarged size, so that you can see and appreciate all the details of fine jewelry work. However, if you remember how small some of these coins are in reality (for example, the diameter of a quarter of a US dollar is 24.3 mm), the sophisticated and precise skill required to perform such work is truly impressive.
