Although it's still only November, the sparkling lights of the house lit up the quiet suburb. This is the work of Michael and Lyn Farnes, who are simply obsessed with Christmas and spend thousands of pounds every year on decorations and preparations for the celebration.
Every year the family carefully plans exactly how they will decorate the house for Christmas in order to surpass last year's light show. 53-year-old Michael Farns says: "Every year I buy something new for decoration, hoping to give even more joy to those who will look at it. It takes a lot of effort and costs a lot, but my wife and I love doing it and get real pleasure when we see the faces of the children who stopped to admire the decorations."

"I bought jewelry everywhere, even in the USA, and we are very proud of it," adds the owner of this Christmas splendor. The couple has been decorating their house for about ten years and creating incredible Christmas compositions that make drivers and passers-by stop. Some even come to get acquainted.
All thirty-odd thousand light bulbs are powered by a 200-meter-long cable. There are 25 snowmen, 40 statues of Santa Claus, elves, deer, sleigh, penguins, bullfinches and polar bears in the yard of the Farnes house. There is also a full-fledged Christmas nativity scene, a huge Santa Claus and an ice pond.
"It's a shame when a light bulb burns out, because some are very difficult to replace. I have to change dozens of lamps every year. In addition, it takes a lot of days to install all this, and I need a special station to control the electricity and make it all work," says Michael. According to him, neighbors and visitors mostly support his initiative, but they are always interested in how much they have to pay for electricity.
"Fortunately, since most light bulbs are LED, everything is not so bad with electricity bills. I just hope that the lights won't turn off because of me," the owner of the beautiful Christmas house notes.
Every year, the Farns choose three charitable foundations to give them the funds received from visits to the exposition by parents with children. Over a period of about ten years, they managed to raise thousands of pounds for various animal welfare charities. This year they are raising money for PDSA, a community outpatient clinic for sick animals. "We want to divide the funds between charitable foundations, but have not yet decided which other funds to choose this year," says Michael.
He has only one golden rule: "Although the exposition is almost ready and attracts a huge amount of attention from children and passers-by, I don't turn it on completely until December 1."
