Space Out Competition is an annual competition, the participants of which do not have to do anything. Yes, in the literal sense of the word: the winner is the one who is able to sit idle the longest.

The "competition", which took place a few weeks ago in Seoul's Icheon Hangang Park, was initiated by the artist Oops Yang (Woops Yang) back in 2014. This idea came to her mind after Oops was faced with professional burnout syndrome and realized that society sometimes needs a break.
"I thought that we would all treat doing nothing a little better if we didn't do anything together, collectively," said Oops.
Participants of the "competition" are forbidden to use smartphones, sleep and even talk. Doctors check the heart rate, and the participants with the most stable rhythm usually become winners. There are even special sports commentators who methodically describe the path of athletes to victory.
For South Korea, whose inhabitants are considered to be among the most stressed and constantly stressed peoples of the world, such "activity" is very important. Oops Young hopes that her brainchild will become a good example for others and remind them that sometimes you just need to give yourself a little rest.
