About twins and faces

By Pictolic https://pictolic.com/article/about-twins-and-faces.htmlLos Angeles-based photographer Susan Swihart is interested in the twin phenomenon. She has begun her long-term project, About Faces, in which she photographs her twin daughters and explores the nuances of their similarities and differences. It reveals enough for us to see the girls' personality without looking into their faces.
Here is what Susan herself says: “Sometimes two people are born as one. They separate, but continue to grow in parallel day after day, centimeter by centimeter. They develop separately and in different ways. They have different dreams and fears. And at the same time, for many, they will always look the same. Be interchangeable. And they will be treated as one.”
1. As a mother of twins, I have observed the phenomenon of their connection since birth.
2. As a photographer and observer, I decided to explore the psychological component, similarities and differences of my daughters.
3. When they realize that they are perceived as one, they have completely different emotions.
4. At times they also consider themselves as one, but always fight for the right to have a voice and be independent.
5. They fight and compete.
6. Periodically, one of them begins to grow faster.
7. The other one stays behind, but then comes out on top again.
8. But most of the time they are inseparable.
9. They calm down looking at each other.
10. They see each other as allies hiding behind the same face.
11. This is a complex but pure love, created at the same time, from head to toe, even in the womb.
12. They go through life together. And I want to witness their unique journey in this world of individuals.
