Especially if in such places there are still scenery after the filming of an episode. We present to you a selection of abandoned film sets of famous films that anyone can visit.
13 PHOTOS
1. Star Wars, Tatooine - Touzar, Tunisia.
While a real trip to other planets is out of the question, you can still visit the famous Tatooine from the legendary star saga and visit the home of Luke Skywalker. This place is located in North Africa.
2. "Pirates of the Caribbean", Port Royal - Hotel Wallilabou, Anchorage, St. Vincent Island.
The famous Jack Sparrow performed by Johnny Depp is unlikely to be found there, but the buildings and some props still remain at the filming location.
3. The Hunger Games District 12 - Henry River Mill Village, North Carolina, USA.
This creepy place was a ghost town before the film crew came here. Now fans of the "Hunger Games" can wander the deserted streets and abandoned buildings. But unfortunately, Russian-speaking guides do not lead excursions in this place. That is why it will not be superfluous to learn English. Even if you are an ardent fan of the film, without knowledge of the language, you can miss a lot of interesting facts.
4. "Patriot" - Cypress Gardens. North Carolina, USA.
The Gardens have served as the filming location for several films, including The Diary of Remembrance, but they are best known for filming The Patriot, starring Mel Gibson. After the filming was over, the scenery was left for fans in the form of an old Spanish mission and a bridge.
5. "The Field of His Dreams" - Baseball field in Dubuque County, Iowa, USA.
Just like in the movie, the baseball field was built on the site of a former farm and remains there to this day. Visitors can even play it or watch the local team play.
6. "Big Fish" - A ghost town in Montgomery County, Alabama, USA.
Although the film's filming location is technically privately owned, the hosts allow visitors to stroll through abandoned buildings for a modest sum.
7. "MES" - Malibu Creek State Park, California, USA.
This park is very beautiful and deserves a visit even in itself, however, there are still decorations from the time of the filming of the popular TV series.
8. "Bates Motel" - Aldergrove, British Columbia, Canada.
Although the series is still in production, visitors can visit the filming location to experience the intimidating ambiance of a roadside hotel.
9. "12 Monkeys" - the prison of the city of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA.
Al Capone once sat in this prison, but then it was closed and turned into a dilapidated old building, which was the best fit for filming a film.
10. "Girl, Interrupted" - Harrisburg Psychiatric Hospital, Pennsylvania, USA.
The hospital where the movie starring Angelina Jolie was filmed was closed in 2006. Now it houses offices, but some of the scenery from the film still remains inside.
11. "Witch Hunters" - Augsburg, Germany.
At the place where the shooting site was located, you can still see the scenery: old houses and the city square.
12. "The Lord of the Rings" - Hobbit village near the city of Matamata, New Zealand.
This is one of the most visited film locations by tourists. After filming ended, locals have preserved the quaint buildings and offer guests entertaining tours of the Hobbit Village.
13. "Schindler's List" - Camp Plaszow near Krakow, Poland.
The real Plaszow labor camp was completely destroyed, but a replica was built for filming the film, which still stands near the Krak mound.
