The discovery was made after the gilded remains of Master Ci Xian underwent a medical check at the Dinghui Temple in northern China.

Master Ci Xian was considered a respected monk who traveled from Ancient India to Ancient China to promote Buddhism.

The CT scan was performed on July 8. People were shocked when the doctors said that Ci Xian's skeleton and brain were in perfect condition. "We can see that his bones are as healthy as a normal person's. The upper jaw, upper teeth, ribs, spine, and all joints are perfectly preserved. This is incredible, " said Dr. Wu Yongqing.

According to historical records, Master Ci Xian was from India. He went to the Hitan Empire in the northeastern part of modern China to spread Buddhist philosophy.
He is said to have translated 10 sutras into Chinese. Some of his translations were engraved on stone tablets, and can still be seen today.

After master Qi Xian passed away, his students kept his body, but it was later lost over the years. The remains were rediscovered in the 1970s in a cave.
