The girl became the youngest female conqueror of Kilimanjaro. A second-grade student climbed to a height of 5895 meters with her mother during spring break.
Holly Kenny, the girl's mother, is a professional triathlete and personally trained her daughter to climb the highest mountain in Africa. The indefatigable Montanna trained for 4-8 hours on weekends and covered short distances on weekdays. Also, the girl is engaged in swimming, basketball and running, which helped her to prepare physically for the upcoming difficult ascent.
It was Montanna who came up with the idea of such a difficult test, and she asked her mother to overcome the peak with her. In order to properly prepare her daughter, Holly did not give her any indulgences during training and prepared her for all sorts of difficulties that they would have to face. The girl was determined and continued to move forward.
They even had to get a special permit that would allow a 7-year-old child to climb a mountain, since the legal age must exceed 10 years.
Throughout the ascent, Holly and her daughter were accompanied by a group of 25 people.
Although becoming a world record holder is an important and significant moment in Montanna's life, the girl did not strive for this at all. The young conqueror of the mountains explained that she wanted to climb to be closer to her father, who died when she was only three years old.
When they reached the top, the girl's mother said that it was a wonderful and touching moment to honor the memory of her father. "She blew kisses and waved to him. I hope he saw her."
The girl's father suffered from post-traumatic stress and tried to recover with the help of DPDH therapy (desensitization and processing by eye movement), which not everyone can afford.
Montanna and Holly have created a page on Go Fund Me to raise money and help people suffering from post-traumatic stress.
