8 modern things that actually existed long before us

Some modern inventions actually appeared many centuries or even millennia ago. The claim that all ancient people were primitive is a gross injustice.

1. Prosthetics and plastic surgery, 3000 BC

The first attempts to correct the shortcomings of the appearance date back to the earliest times. One example is the Egyptian prosthetic sock, which was not only aesthetically pleasing but also quite effective.

The Greek philosopher Plato used a water clock that could beep to remind him that it was time to start his lectures. In ancient Rome and the Middle East, water alarms were developed.

The Antikythera Mechanism is considered an "ancient computer" because it can track the movement of celestial bodies and predict solar and lunar eclipses. It has also been used to calculate the start date for the Olympic Games.
