The point is that they are willing to go to any lengths to portray a character instead of following general methods and rules.
We at Pictolic have always respected these actors, but now we understand even better why they are one of the best.
7 PHOTOS
1. Johnny Depp - Captain Jack Sparrow.
Depp came up with Jack's special walk for practical reasons. The fact is that on the ship you need to walk like that, otherwise, due to the rocking, you will constantly fall. So, Jack (as a seasoned sailor) can't kick this habit even when he's not on a ship. Among many others, it was Depp's idea. But at first, Disney thought his acting was too eccentric, and they almost made the biggest mistake of not wanting to hire him.
2. Jake Gyllenhaal - Louis Bloom and Detective Loki.
Jake is one of the most daring actors of his generation - he often plays very complex and unusual roles. In Stringer, he thought his character looked like a coyote and showed it on screen. Gyllenhaal created a character who didn't know what empathy was and all he cared about was earning something. When he saw an opportunity to make money, his eyes glowed and he stopped blinking. The actor had such an idea, and it frightened the audience: in these scenes, he looks like a real psychopath. Interestingly, in the same year, Gyllenhaal portrayed the opposite character - Detective Loki. His character revealed all his previous cases, but when he hit a dead end in his search, he was very nervous. And Jake used his expressive eyes again - he blinked very fast.
3. Anthony Hopkins - Hannibal Lecter.
Anthony's character was the most impressive in The Silence of the Lambs, although he was only on screen for about 20 minutes. His hypnotic gaze was amazing. Some people think he didn't blink at all in the movie, but that's not true. He did blink, but very infrequently and slowly, and it seemed that he only blinked when he wanted to. Perhaps this is where Gyllenhaal found Stringer's inspiration.
4. Sandra Bullock - Annie.
For her role, Sandra didn't just learn how to drive. She got a real bus driver's license and passed the exam on the first try.
5. Henry Cavill - Geralt of Rivia.
After Henry was cast as Geralt, many game and book fans were truly disappointed. But it suited him. The actor himself is a big fan of the Witcher universe and really felt the character. Cavill not only changed his voice in an attempt to sound like a video game actor but also made other changes that surprised the team.
6. Danny DeVito - Lorax.
Some actors may voice their characters in different languages. It's a marketing ploy because people want to hear the original voices of the actors but don't know the language. Danny DeVito voiced the Lorax not only in English but also in Russian, Spanish, Italian, and German, although he does not speak any of these languages. He thought it would be a very good test for him.
7. Viggo Mortensen - Aragorn.
It turns out that Viggo Mortensen also reads books and respects them. That's why he decided not to appear in the Hobbit trilogy at all. He said, "You know Aragorn isn't in The Hobbit, do you? That there is a 60-year gap between the books?”
