By Pictolic https://pictolic.com/article/5-spherical-skyscrapers-that-defy-the-laws-of-nature1.htmlSince ancient times, architects have created round and spherical buildings. Round towers and domed buildings were found exclusively in Greek and Roman architecture, but in our time we can notice similar forms in the architecture of planetariums and theaters. Most of these buildings use a round shape in the floor plan, but we present five high-rise buildings, round shape, which are amazing.
Aldar Skyscraper, Abu Dhabi
The world's first round-shaped skyscraper, the Aldar, looks like a coin dropped on an edge. It consists of two circular facades of convex shape, connected by a narrow line. The fully glazed building has a height of 121 meters and 23 floors. The skyscraper was built by MZ Architects.
Fangyuan Mansion, Shenyang, China
The 100-meter building is very similar to an old Chinese coin. It was built in 2011 by C. Y. Lee & Partners Architects/Planners, whose creation is also the 508-meter skyscraper "Taipei 101", which currently ranks 3rd among the tallest buildings in the world.
By the way, at one time, the Fangyuan Mansion building was recognized as one of the ugliest in the world.
Guangzhou-Yuan, Guangzhou City
At the moment, the building houses the main office of Hongda Xingye Group and, more recently, Guangdong Plastic Exchange. The building is located on the bank of the Pearl River, its height is 138 meters, its diameter is 50 meters. In shape, it resembles a ring, which, together with its reflection in the water, forms the symbol of infinity or the number eight — a lucky number in Chinese culture.
Radisson BLU Hotel in Frankfurt
The building was built in 2005. The hotel was designed by the English architect John Seifert. Externally, the hotel is a construction in the form of a disk, in which glass cubes are clamped.
Sunrise Kempinski Hotel, Beijing
The building resembles the rising sun, and its profile is like a scallop, symbolizing good luck in Chinese culture. The hotel opened last year on the shores of Yankee Lake. In total, the 97-meter building has 21 floors, where 306 rooms are located, as well as meeting rooms, gyms, restaurants and bars.
