In various cities in the United Kingdom (London, Bristol, Liverpool and Glasgow), the Iron Lady was celebrated with "Ding dong, the witch is dead" banners and champagne.

1. Actions were held in several major cities in the UK, at which their participants expressed their joy in every possible way in connection with the death of the ex-prime minister, Baroness Margaret Thatcher. The actions were organized by opponents of the policy pursued by the "iron lady" during her premiership (1979 - 1990).
2. So, in Bristol, six police officers were injured when they tried to disperse about 200 people who celebrated the death of Mrs. Thatcher as a joyful event.
3. In addition, about 100 more people gathered in the Brixton area in south London, violently expressing their joy over the death of the Baroness. The protesters smashed the windows of shops, and the attackers took advantage of the turmoil and tried to rob them. Two women were arrested on suspicion of theft.
4. Some demonstrators carried banners reading: "Rejoice, Thatcher is dead." The spontaneous rally drank champagne and shouted cheerfully: "Maggie, Maggie, Maggie, dead, dead, dead." Someone from the crowd threw smoke bombs. The police were forced to bring in additional forces to restore order. Local authorities have already condemned the "celebrations" as "shameful".
5. Politician Thatcher was unequivocally disliked by English miners.
6. The British miners could not forgive her in 1984 - then the "Iron Lady" with a wave of her hand destroyed the unprofitable coal industry in the country and left tens of thousands of people without work, without even batting an eyelid. Did not stop Thatcher and mass strikes, which then lasted more than a year.
7. “Thatcher was a real outcast,” said one of the rally participants, former miner Stuart Morris, who now works at a museum in West Yorkshire.
8. Now the former miners see her off with the slogan "Ding dong, the witch is dead." Facebook launched a whole campaign under this slogan, calling for the return to music chats of the 40s song from the movie The Wizard of Oz with the same name (Ding-Dong! The Witch Is Dead!).
9. The Iron Lady is also known for her intransigence towards the Soviet Union. "We need 15 million Russians to work in the mines and oil fields, the rest are of no interest to us," she once said.
10. Recall that the prominent politician and statesman Margaret Thatcher died of a stroke on Monday, April 8, at the age of 87. Her funeral will take place next Wednesday, April 17th.
