In September 2023, Netflix premiered the fourth and final season of Sex Education, one of the most popular TV shows of recent years. This production, created by Laurie Nunn, debuted in 2019, introducing Otis, a fairly shy high school student with a great understanding of sexuality owed to his open-minded mother, sex therapist Jean Milburn. Capitalizing on his knowledge of the subject, he decides to set up a sex clinic with his classmate Maeve to help Moordale Secondary students deal with relationship and intimacy issues, but this successful venture is jeopardized after he develops feelings for his business partner.

Asa Butterfield leads the cast joined by Gillian Anderson, Emma Mackey, Ncuti Gatwa, Aimee Lou Wood, Connor Swindells, and a host of other talented young stars who rose to fame thanks to the show. The first season became a critical and audience hit, rising to become one of the platform's most-watched productions and earning several accolades. As a result of its popularity, Netflix ordered new seasons to be produced, which were met with a similar reaction to the first one.

Last September, the fourth and final season was released, allowing the audience to farewell their favorite characters. This season features the now-familiar students of Moordale Secondary who have to adjust to a new institution after the school closes, as they navigate their teenage years to the best of their ability. While this latest season did not enjoy the same critical acclaim as previous ones, it still managed to rank among Netflix's most-watched shows. 15. Misfits

Misfits is another hugely successful British production that aired for five seasons, wrapping up in 2013. This sci-fi show follows five totally different young people who meet while working in the community service program after committing several crimes. The lives of these teen delinquents take a radical turn after they are struck by a storm that grants them special abilities, which they must learn to master before things get ugly.

Antonia Thomas, Iwan Rheon, Lauren Socha, Nathan Stewart-Jarrett, and Robert Sheehan headline the cast of this production, which has undergone many changes over the course of the seasons. The popularity of this production prompted the development of an American version, although it was never actually released.

Degrassi is a franchise that has been active since 1979 when it premiered its first show, The Kids of Degrassi Street. In 2001, the franchise launched its fourth TV series, Degrassi: The Next Generation, created by Yan Moore and Linda Schuyler.

Over the course of 14 seasons, this Canadian production follows a new generation of Degrassi Community School students as they navigate the highs and lows of their teenage years, as they encounter new challenges brought on by their coming of age. Following the success of this production, the franchise added its fifth and latest show to date, Degrassi: Next Class, which was ultimately canceled after four seasons on the air.

Freaks and Geeks is one of the most famous teen shows ever. It was created by Paul Feig, with Judd Apatow serving as executive producer, and features some of today's biggest Hollywood stars, who at the time were still up-and-coming artists, like Linda Cardellini, James Franco, Seth Rogen, and Jason Segel. The show takes the audience back to the year 1980 and follows a teenage girl named Lindsay, her younger brother Sam, and the rest of the students at William McKinley High School, who are divided into social groups of all kinds.

Despite being considered one of the best shows in history, Freaks and Geeks was not very successful upon its premiere in 1999, and its erratic scheduling led to its cancelation after just one season. Nevertheless, this production became a cult classic that continues to gain fans to this day.

The Sex Lives of College Girls is a show that proves that troubles, drama, and mayhem don't just stop at adolescence. Charles Forsman's 2012 comic book series The End of the F***ing World hit television in 2017, with a British adaptation created by Jonathan Entwistle and starring Alex Lawther and Jessica Barden. This production, which aired for two seasons on Channel 4 and Netflix, follows James, a teenager who believes to be a psychopath and is looking for the perfect victim to murder.

He eventually crosses paths with Alyssa, an angry and conflicted young girl who attends his school. When she suggests they run away together looking for adventures, he consents, considering it the perfect opportunity to kill her. But little does James know that on their journey, he is about to develop unforeseen feelings for his victim.

2017 marked the premiere of Big Mouth, an animated coming-of-age show that became Netflix's longest-running original scripted series. It was created by Andrew Goldberg, Nick Kroll, Mark Levin, and Jennifer Flackett, and draws inspiration from Kroll and Goldberg's childhood and teenage years. Big Mouth features Nick Birch and Andrew Glouberman, two best friends who are entering the confusing phase of puberty, experiencing its wonders and pitfalls in the company of their hormone monsters.

While the first season of Atypical drew criticism for its lack of autistic representation, subsequent seasons addressed the feedback by incorporating actors within the community and improving its depiction of autism, resulting in even better reviews.

This show by Bryan Elsley and Jamie Brittain follows the day-to-day lives of a group of teenagers from Bristol, England, who not only have to deal with the challenges of adolescence but also major issues such as substance abuse, eating disorders, and mental health problems. Skins aired for seven seasons, renewing its cast over time to follow new characters as they enter their teenage years. The show's success prompted the development of an American version, which aired for only one season before being canceled.

Everything Sucks! is a TV series created for Netflix by Ben York Jones and Michael Mohan that centers on 1990s teenagers. In it, the audience follows the AV and drama clubs of Boring High School, attended by some of the least popular students of the institution. In an effort to be acknowledged by the rest of their peers, these groups will join forces to make a film together, which will prove to be rather tricky.

Sydney Sweeney, Jahi Di'Allo Winston, Peyton Kennedy, and Patch Darragh are some of the actors in the cast of this teen production that, in spite of its rave reviews, got canceled as it failed to achieve the desired ratings.

Rounding out this list is Euphoria, one of the most popular teen TV series of the last few years. This HBO production was created by Sam Levinson after the Israeli miniseries of the same name and features Zendaya, Maude Apatow, Alexa Demie, Jacob Elordi, and Barbie Ferreira, as well as many other young actors. It follows Rue, a teenager who just got out of rehab with no intention to stay clean, as well as her fellow classmates as they struggle with different issues and navigate their adolescence.

Following its premiere in 2019, the show emerged as one of the network's most-watched series, prompting the production of a second season. A third season is currently in the making, although its premiere date has not yet been released.
