In Soviet times, there was such a profession as a photographer. Not just a photographer, but a master of artistic photography. Such was Georgy Makarovich Ter-Ovanesov, a star photographer who was trusted by the first beauties of Soviet cinema to shoot their portraits. Anastasia Vertinskaya, Victoria Fedorova, Viya Artman, Tatiana Doronina and Alla Demidova - their beautiful youth was captured in eternity by none other than Georgy Ter-Ovanesov.

Ter-Ovanesov made the most famous actor's pictures, which were sold in thousands of copies. That's just everyone knew the actors, and the creator of their images — a few initiates.

In film circles, he was easily called - Zhorik, and more often in the French manner - Georges. He was one of the few chosen ones allowed to shoot domestic artists for the magazine "Soviet Screen" and the subsequent series of photographs of kinokrasavits and kinokrasavets for Soyuzpechat. They were sold at every kiosk and even got the name "star for 8 kopecks" - because of the price indicated for one picture.
