Hello, I'm Berk Armagan. As you might know, from previous posts on Pictolic, I travel the world selling my realistic drawings on paper cups. My travel of the world with paper cups journey continues! I have added the world's most durable surface to this journey - Stanley thermoses, which I draw on for special requests.

I have no professional education in the drawing. Yet I choose to share what I've learned: my experience and work with those who support my artwork. Here you can see a post on Bored Panda where I draw famous Istanbul landmarks, and here, I draw Instanbul ancient traditions on paper cups.

First, the evolution of my artwork from paper cups to thermos was due to the brand request I received. Stanley Turkey's marketing manager asked me to draw on a thermos. I have drawn on different surfaces before, but I had never drawn on a steel surface. They sent me a thermos. I tried drawing and I was successful. My thermos drawings were appreciated by both the brand and the people. So I continued to draw on thermoses as well as paper cups.

My desire for realistic drawing is a behavior I have acquired over the years. Since I have been drawing on paper cups for years, it was not difficult for me to draw on a thermos. Both are cylindrical surfaces. I make most drawings to order. I'm trying to accept requests that will look aesthetically pleasing on the thermos.

If it comes to the most challenging project I’ve worked on so far, it was probably my last work for Topkapı Palace. I drew the sword of Saint Muhammad on a thermos. It was challenging because there were a lot of gold and jewelry details. The most important thing in the drawings I make is scaling. It takes me a while to find the right scale, but then it gets easier. Coloring takes a long time and is the most enjoyable part. I progress from dark to light. An average thermos takes me 7-15 hours.

My only advice for those who may be considering a similar path, pursuing their artistic passions, is to do things just to enjoy. I've always done this. I always drew what I wanted. While taking orders, I accepted requests according to my own taste. I believe that the outcome of anything you enjoy and do with passion will be a success.
