1. The Misfits
Black bangs, long reaching to the nose, or simply "devilok" - the idea of the band's bassist Jerry Only, gloomy clothes, contrasting makeup and the well-known skull on the logo, borrowed from the Crimson Ghost series. All these are the necessary components to create the perfect punk-koshcheev, who are not killed even by the eternal line-up change.
2 Johnny Cash
During his concerts, Cash was always dressed in a black suit, which is why the nickname “The Man in Black” stuck to him. The country singer explained the reasons for wearing dark clothes in the song Man In Black, in which he says that he wears them as a sign of solidarity with disadvantaged people.
3. Buckethead
One of the most productive and, of course, the strangest guitarists of our time owes his reputation as an eccentric, including to his stage image. Buckethead wears the indispensable KFC paper bucket on his head and a white theatrical mask on his face.
4. Kiss
The members of the group, whose performances are not complete without spectacular special effects like burning guitars and breathing fire, are recognizable, first of all, by their makeup. The musicians distributed among themselves the roles of Starchild, Demon, Cat and Space Man. Moreover, at one time the group had members who became the Fox and the Ankh Warrior.
5. Kurt Cobain
This is not to say that the grunge idol simply does not bother what to go on stage. It was just that Kurt was fascinated by all sorts of rubbish: T-shirts with strange prints, shapeless old lady sweaters, various trinkets and numerous rings. But still, Cobain is most associated with ripped jeans, black and white sneakers and, of course, plaid flannel shirts. Kurt, although he was far from fashion, but thanks to his image, he became one of the models in it, marking the beginning of the grunge style in clothes.
6. The Beatles
Although Liverpool started their career in leather jackets and with sloppy hairstyles a la teddy boys, they eventually came to the classics. Black Chesterfield suits with tight ties and hairstyles, called mop-tops, became their calling card in clothes.
7. Michael Jackson
The early departed singer was also able to become not only a musical icon, but also create his own unique image. The most recognizable stage image of Michael Jackson is a fedora fedora hat, jacket, dark cropped trousers, white or silver-shiny socks, black patent leather shoes and a rhinestone-studded glove on his right hand.
8 Daft Punk
Until the early 2000s, the duo performed without any costumes, but almost simultaneously with the release of the Discovery album, the appearance of the musicians changed: in public and during concerts, the group began to appear in the form of robots in suits, gloves and helmets with LED lights.
9. The White Stripes
The group performed in clothes of only three colors: red, white and black. The same colors were used on records and instruments: for example, Jack's Montgomery Ward JB Hutto Airline guitar or Meg's drums, stylized as red and white lollipops. For the sake of the group's image, Jack White even dyed his brown hair black.
10. Deadmau5
A Canadian boy decided to change the video card in his computer and found a dead mouse in it. Having reported this on the Internet, he received the nickname "that dead mouse guy". Shortening his pseudonym to Deadmouth and wearing a mouse head mask, Joel Zimmerman launched a super-successful career as a DJ.
11. Slipknot
It has always been fashionable for metal bands, be it GWAR or the notorious Lordi, to go on stage in costumes and masks. But the guys from Slipknot are probably the most famous metallers in character today. Musicians still wear masks and work overalls, which are modified with the release of new material. The last time the color of their clothes was changed to white. Because of their stage image, Slipknot has long been in conflict with Mushroomhead, who also wore masks and costumes, but now the groups have no mutual claims.
12. Marilyn Manson
You can write a whole article about the change in the image of the leader Marilyn Manson from album to album, and if you add Brian Warner's own comments to the material, then even a book. But still, the musician's calling card is the invariable deathly-pale make-up on his face, his eyeliner and brightly painted lips.
13. The Residents
The musicians worked anonymously for a long time, hiding their faces under masks in the form of eyeballs with irises of different colors, wearing top hats and suits. Some time ago, the group did give their names and reveal their faces, but still remains famous thanks to their old image.
