10 mysterious stories about stockings, the sexiest weapon of seduction
By Pictolic https://pictolic.com/article/10-mysterious-stories-about-stockings-the-sexiest-weapon-of-seduction.htmlStockings are one of the most beloved weapons of seduction by women. But this seemingly simple thing. it has a lot of puzzles. For example, why were stockings rolled up under the knees? And why were they sewn to the underpants? And why is it better to be brown-haired than blonde? These and a few more riddles are in our article today.
Going out without stockings was considered a bad thing. Stockings were worn always and everywhere – in everyday life, in any weather, including in the heat and even on the beach. But the ladies, especially the young girls, were outraged by this fact. And, going against morality, they put on stockings, but rolled them up under the knee – and decency is observed and it is not so hot. And this new fashion literally broke into the 20s…
The appearance of nylon stockings in the same 20s, as well as increasingly shortened dresses that bare the legs, led to the fact that women took care of shaving their legs. In bohemian circles, they started talking about the fact that the hair on women's legs is akin to leprosy and called them a curse. True, the fashion for shaved legs entered society for a long time and with difficulty – initially, a lady with shaved legs was considered windy and easily accessible.
Today, the arrow on the stockings gives a certain charm to a woman, visually lengthening and making her legs slimmer. But initially, before the invention of circular knitting machines, stockings were sewn and sewn from behind. This arrow caused a lot of inconvenience to the ladies – it constantly twisted, slipped, but still became fashionable. And today this element is exclusively decorative and is created specifically.
Today, another decorative element on stockings-the French heel attracts attention. But once this heel was made solely for practical reasons – to protect stockings from rubbing, as well as legs from rubbing. The heel in stockings, which were sewn from fabric, was made double, or even triple – to protect and strengthen the structure in order to avoid slipping. This was the most vulnerable place, sometimes it was all darned-darned. Later, nylon stockings were also reinforced on the foot and especially on the heel.
Today, various heels are rather a decorative element.
During the Second World War, DuPont, which produced nylon stockings, was forced to transfer its factories for the production of strategically important products during the war period (parachute domes and slings, cables for airplanes, awnings for trucks, backpacks, ropes). Stockings have become a mad shortage. But even here the women found a way out – they tinted their legs, and then with a special device they drew an arrow on the leg, as if showing-I'm in stockings.. The company "Max Factor" even created a special paint of light brown color: "liquid stockings".
There are two ways in this matter. Firstly, the invention of tights has not yet taken place, and women wanted to wear mini-skirts. It was they who led to the fact that women removed the belts for stockings, and the stockings themselves were sewn to their underpants.
Tights were invented later (by the way, they were called tights, based on the Czech "kalhoty"). The shortage of these products also led our ladies to the idea of sewing stockings to their underpants…
In times of total shortage of nylon stockings-the appearance of a sliding arrow on them was comparable to a catastrophe. Women invented a bunch of different salted things for their darning-hooks and machines for lifting loops. And those who did not have cars, then not only threads from already "dead" stockings were used for darning, but also their own hair. And since most of the stockings were of a flesh (brownish) color, it was easier for brown-haired women to cope with this task.
To wear stockings, a special belt with plastic clips was used, into which the stocking was inserted and clamped with a piece of iron. Sometimes the plastic, round holder broke and then a coin or a button was placed under the stocking and wound it into this piece of iron – so the stockings were held.
The upper strip on the stockings, for which they are attached to the belt, is called a welt (side). This is a reinforced strip that should be attached to the stocking and therefore they came up with another reinforced strip, but less dark, the so-called shadow welt, which connects the stocking itself to the side.
The keyhole, or the so-called finishing loop, is located on the side of the stockings and is a technological hole designed for turning out the stocking. The side was turned up and sewn to the stocking and so that the seam was not visible, the stocking was turned out through this hole. Today it is a decorative element.
