Baker Hotel, Texas

There were two attempts to draw attention to skyscrapers. The first was when 300 people occupied the building for a whole month, until they were kicked out by the police. In 2010, Dutch artists initiated a project called "Occupy Paradise" , creating mini-replicas of abandoned skyscrapers to draw public attention to isolation and social injustice.

During the construction of the Plaza Tower, work was suddenly stopped for two years, until 1968. In 1984, the half-residential building was converted into a commercial building. Despite the fact that the building became the hallmark of the city, it was not given due attention, and it fell into disrepair. In 2001, the tenants filed several lawsuits against the owners of the tower for inaction. In 2002, the offices were evacuated and the entrance to the tower was closed. The future remains unknown.

The decline of the building, as well as the entire central part of Memphis, began in the 60s. This pearl with a green roof gradually began to collapse and to force gloomy thoughts in the dark. An attempt was made to paint the building from the outside, but after that it began to look even worse. Decades have passed, and local residents have appealed to restore the building to life. But it didn't do anything.

The fame of the Beek Brothers did not last long. In 1928, a 47-story building was built in the city. Wanting to return their building to the title of the tallest, they decided to build an 81-story building opposite the Buka building. But in 1929, the Great Depression hit, and the plans did not come to fruition. Later, the amazing building passed from one owner to another and changed its appearance. In 2013, there were plans to renovate the building, but the details are still unknown.
