World Gluttony Champion Peter Dowdeswell
There are a lot of people in the world who eat a lot. But there are much fewer of those who do it also phenomenally fast. Among this "elite" of gluttons there is a king and his name is Peter Dowdeswell. This man is not distinguished by a heroic complexion, but no one manages food and drinks faster than him. He is so good that he made his ability a profession and earned a good capital.
Peter Dowdeswell was born in 1940 in the city and Earls Barton, Great Britain. His childhood and youth were unremarkable. For the first time Peter declared himself only at the age of 34. In 1974, he "joined" the championships in high-speed beer consumption and quickly became the best. The Briton did not stop there and began to take prizes at food eating competitions.
Almost half a century has passed since then. Dowdeswell drank beer at speed, at volume per unit of time, standing on his head. He ate eggs, sausages, cheese, strawberries and much more, competing with the most capacious and fastest gluttons of the planet. At the same time, Peter himself looks plain against the background of many of his rivals. He is of medium height, medium build and has no more belly than other beer drinkers.
Nevertheless, Peter set 300 world records, of which 100 remained unsurpassed. Among his brilliant victories are 1 liter of beer drunk in 2 seconds, 4 liters of beer in 16.4 seconds, 50.4 liters of beer in 3 hours. The subject of special pride of the record holder remains 4 liters of beer, drunk in 40.4 seconds upside down.
It's worth saying that Peter... doesn't like beer. He is generally indifferent to alcohol in ordinary life. He absorbs a foamy drink only for the sake of the show, preferring tea and juices at home.
As for food, Dowdeswell does not graze the rear here either. In his champion piggy bank eating 17 peeled bananas in 1 minute 47 seconds, 21.1 kg of hamburgers in 9 hours 43 minutes, 32 peeled boiled eggs in 55 seconds. His work was well paid. Over the years, Peter has transferred 4.5 million pounds (445 million rubles) to charity alone. No one knows the total amount of his fees and prize money.
However, now all these achievements are in the past. At the age of 71, the world gluttony champion retired. And the reason was not old age at all, as one might think. Peter was put out of action by an "industrial" injury. When he was once again drinking beer at speed upside down, the men holding his legs let him down. They dropped Dowdeswell on the platform, and the poor guy injured his shoulders and back. Now speed eating contests are not for him. Peter only occasionally demonstrates his talent at charity events.
