Why do New York girls read topless books in front of passers-by?
In the warm season, on the streets of the Big Apple, you can find something more interesting than the Statue of Liberty. If you're lucky, in broad daylight (at least in the same Times Square) you will stumble upon bare-breasted girls who are reading books. Of course, girls read, not breasts, because breasts that read only exist in fairy tales, and you have already grown out of them. Not from breasts, but from fairy tales. Ugh!

1. Let's go in order. A significant day for New York struck like Putin with Siberian Cranes in the middle of a clear sky. It happened on August 17, 2011. Then a group of several young, beautiful and contented girls organized their first meeting. Of course, it was customary for all the girls on the planet to meet in companies before, so this particular meeting did not bode anything special for those around them. But if those same people around them would think about it and find out that girlfriends love books and walking naked in the fresh air, they would know what to expect. However, it turned out to be even more interesting. The women came to the park, busily spread blankets on the lawn, took off their T-shirts, under which young breasts without a bra were basking, and began to read literature with due rapture.
2. Since then, they call themselves the Outdoor Co-ed Topless Pulp Fiction Appreciation Society (OCTPFAS), and their friendly group of six has grown into a society with a hundred regular members. And that's not counting temporary guest performers, as well as constantly arriving recruits. Or a rookie? Today, OCTPFAS boasts a mixed cast: it now has 5% of men who are exploited as unpaid guards, and the fair sex from 17 to 43 years old. (By the way, there are many, many photos of girls at the end of the text, so you can immediately scroll down the page and not suffer).
3. In Russia, for such doomsday, the poor things would probably be forcibly dragged to “Let them talk”, forced to talk with Vsevolod Chaplin, stoned and imprisoned for about 50 years. But New Yorkers are not so simple and generally more perceptive to beauty. Now the expanded club is constantly invited to visit the owners of coffee houses, gallery owners, bookstores and, of course, organizers of book presentations. Publishing houses send the ladies the first prints of future bestsellers in boxes, which have not even had time to go on sale. Bloggers and journalists meet with girls under the pretext of an interview and “I’ll click on your camera, okay?”. Writers and publicists, including the eminent Lawrence Block, Christina Faust and Dave Barry, discuss their work with half-naked readers. Fans write poems for irresistible women. And ordinary passers-by, according to the members of the society, smile, shout approvingly “Wow!”, Show “class” and Instagram what is happening. The same is done by European tourists who specifically recognize the place of the next meeting of girls and go there instead of admiring the Brooklyn Bridge (and we understand them). The most ardent foreign fans come from France, Brazil and Germany.
4. Sticky guys began to appear only recently, when there were too many seductive girls in the parks. And they are no longer limited to parks. And reading too. They walk topless along the avenues, sit in restaurants and go to libraries. And to scare away uninvited men in the company appeared their own. These are the friends and boyfriends of the OCTPFAS members - only they can be trusted. But there were no fights for three years. The most that guys had to do in defense of girls was to ask other guys to move away because of the illegality of harassment. But even such roughness infuriated the girls, and one of them decided to flash her bare boobs in the subway. And nothing, I did it.
5. But enough about the public reaction, because the representatives of the law are much more interesting in this regard. It is all the more surprising that for all the time the society has been operating, the girls have never run into problems with the police, although there are a dime a dozen serious people in the city center in the form of a dime a dozen. Yes, and in the subway too.
6. It's all about New York's legislative history. Once there it was forbidden to walk around topless - this is how the authorities limited the marketing tricks of restaurateurs, some of which forced waitresses to walk around with a bare top. The law was repealed in 1992, when a couple of women were caught bare-chested for the first time since the 1980s when the law was passed. The court then considered the ban discrimination, a relic of the past and removed it from the criminal code to hell. More than 20 years have passed since then, but for some reason, almost no one used the lifting of the ban before OCTPFAS. The girls decided to correct this situation in order to legitimize their right to go topless not only formally, but also in terms of morality. And they do it without much difficulty.
7. Although there could be difficulties. This happened to a certain Jill Soccaro 9 years ago. Then she paraded through the city half-dressed, was seized by the police and spent half the day at the station. The woman did not remain in the loser: for the inconvenience caused, she sued the city and received compensation of 29 thousand dollars. Perhaps that case, which deprived many police officers of their Christmas bonuses, became a telling example for the guardians of the law.
8. That's all. Although no. Here are the answers to questions you may have left after reading:
Why are there no names of OCTPFAS members in the text?
They prefer to be called nicknames, which is not interesting.
How to contact them?
If you want community news, go to coedtoplesspulpfiction.wordpress.com. If you want to meet them, find out about the next meeting by email: toplesspulpfiction@gmail.com. You should also write there if you want to open your own representative office of OCTPFAS.
Can you marry them?
Who knows. But we think that nothing is impossible. May you live happily ever after!
