What the business class of a Swiss airline looked like in the 60s
The Swiss airline Swissair has published a photo from its archives of the 60s. Passengers in those days flew like kings: enjoying their personal space, eating delicious food, sipping cocktails with a cigarette right in the seat. This is what the "golden era of passenger aviation" looked like.
Of course, in real life, the aisles between the seats were not so wide: this advertising shoot took place in the studio, not on board the plane.
But still, in those days, the level of service was much higher than the modern one.
All these photos are from the archives of Swissair. What about the other airlines of those years? Was the flight to the 60s the same luxury? Definitely yes.
The photos show economy class seats. It also serves excellent onboard food. Please note that each seat is equipped with an ashtray.
The flight attendant shows the duty-free goods. Yes! In those golden days, you could buy a block of cigarettes right in the air…
Passengers could smoke on board while drinking cocktails.
Your health!
