What kind of women did men want in 1904

The newspaper "Russian Leaf" was published in Moscow daily from 1890 to 1907. It was positioned as a "daily newspaper of politics, public life and literature". Later it was considered a "non-party body" and repeatedly announced to its readers that it was the voice of Russian people of moderate-advanced views. In fact, the direction of the publication was reactionary.

Illustrated supplements were often delivered to subscribers along with the newspaper. One of these "dopnik" was the "Album of Russian beauties". The album was released together with one of the 1904 issues and contained photographs of the most beautiful representatives of all cultures who lived in the territory of the Russian Empire at that time. It is quite possible that the "collection of beauty" was intended to show all the wonderful diversity of the Great Empire, or maybe just to cheer up the male half of subscribers.
