What do black boxes look like?
Photographer Jeffrey Milstein made a project about the so-called black boxes of airplanes. He was trying to shed light on what we have heard so much about but never seen - what do these black boxes look like? “Airplanes have flight parametric recorders and voice recorders known as black boxes, although in reality they are almost always red. When an accident occurs, the first step is to find the black box - this may be the only way to determine the cause of the disaster.
The photographer says that the old boxes used, for example, tape: “These are simply amazing tools in terms of technology. In addition, they are emotionally charged - some were broken, some burned - they contain stories of tragedies that happened. They contain the last words of the pilots and, probably, the hope of preventing future disasters. Some of them are hard to look at and not think about human vulnerability.”
