Venus on a nudist beach: how the heroes of classic canvases fit into modernity
Alla Mingaleva is a Ukrainian artist who currently lives in Yerevan. The girl attracted us with her creativity, namely collages, in which she places the heroes of the masterpieces of fine art in a modern environment. The works come out very ironic, and that is why it is difficult to look away from them.
Alla claims that she does not remember herself being non-existent. When asked about the source of inspiration for creating such illustrations, the girl names her favorite painters: Marguerite Gerard, Louis-Leopold Bouailly, John William Godward.
"I want to look at their works in an updated light, adapt them to modern realities," admits Alla.
Especially the girl likes to "embed" the characters in the office space.
"The series with the office turned out to be the most amusing. I tried to find such heroes of the paintings who would be really similar to my colleagues. With the help of Photoshop, I attached the characters to their workplaces."
"Initially, my colleagues liked it very much. Only after a while did people all over the Internet start sharing my collages, saying, "Oh, it's me on Monday.""
Alla has been working on the series for a year. Mostly the girl makes collages in Photoshop, but sometimes she can make everything in the phone. When Alla is asked how she chooses certain characters for a collage, the artist answers: "They mostly choose me."
