On May 4, 1947, the Hells Angels motorcycle gang was formed in California. Around this legendary club, which still exists, there were many scandals. Perhaps the most famous of these involved the murder of a fan at a Rolling Stones concert in 1969, when the Hells Angels were hired to guard the band during their American tour.

In 1965, the future father of gonzo journalism and author of the acclaimed novel Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Hunter S. Thompson, spent a year with members of the club, who usually do not let strangers into their lives, after which he published the book Hells Angels ( (full title: HellsAngels. A Strange and Terrible Saga of the Outlaw Motorcycle Gangs). Introducing the Hells Angels through the eyes of Hunter S. Thompson.
