For the phrase: "Shut your mouth, I don't talk to women, a policeman is not a female profession", the man had to pay 3,000 euros.
Source: The New York TimesFor the first time, a Belgian court has accused a man of "sexism in a public place" for insulting a policewoman. The incident occurred on June 6, 2016. A 23-year-old man crossed the road at a red traffic light. When the police stopped the guy, he insulted a woman on duty.
During the arrest, the man claimed that he was a victim of discrimination because of his dark skin color. The accused did not appear in court and can still appeal the verdict.
The law on sexism was adopted in Belgium back in 2014, but before this case with a policewoman, the court had never issued an indictment for sexism.
