Suppliers warned that red caviar will rise in price by 20-60%
Analysts say that the production of red caviar this year will be a record low due to the unsuccessful salmon fishing in the Far East. According to the most conservative estimates, producers will offer consumers 25-30% less caviar this fall than last year. It is quite obvious that such a reduction will lead to a significant increase in product prices.
Wholesale suppliers have already reacted to the market change and notified retailers that prices for red caviar will rise by 20-60%. No one is ready to name the exact figure yet, so it takes time to form it.
Ilya Bereznyuk, managing partner of Agro & Food Communications, told Kommersant journalists that last year at this time the price of pink salmon caviar started from 2,300 rubles per kilogram, and this year the figures of 3,000 and above are already being discussed. It is likely that wholesale prices this fall will overcome the mark of 3,300 rubles per kilogram.
Experts predicted an annual salmon catch of at least 380 thousand tons, but now it has become clear that everything will be limited to 300-350 thousand tons. Such a decrease in catch is primarily due to unfavorable weather conditions that haunt fishermen throughout almost the entire putina, as well as an increase in the costs of fishermen for equipment and materials.

But now the products that have long become familiar to many Russians may again become a delicacy for some. Vkusville is already ready to raise the price of red caviar by 30%. Since this year the rise in price coincides with a decrease in the purchasing power of citizens, it is very likely that there will simply be no demand for this product.
