In Afghanistan, a very strange tradition called "Bacha-bazi" is observed to this day. Its essence lies in the fact that a pretty boy of 10-12 years old dances an incendiary dance in front of the guests of his owner.

For maximum effect, he is given a bright make-up, and dressed up in a women's outfit, embroidered with stones and decorated with bright patterns. Of course, only wealthy Afghans can afford this luxury.

1. Why boys?

According to the harsh Sharia law, women cannot entertain guests in this way. Therefore, deprived of entertainment with fair sex, men have come up with an unusual way to get around this ban.

The very name of the tradition "Bacha-bazi" is translated as "Playing with the boys". Of course, these boys enter the homes of wealthy Afghans from an earlier age in order to learn the necessary dancing skills.

2. Their parents tend to be from the lower classes and give away their children for a little financial help. On this, communication with loved ones for boys ends forever. Of course, such entertainment is not always limited to harmless dances, but no one will disclose the details of the personal relationship of the owners with their boys.

3. It is worth noting only that the life of "Bacha-bazi" is not so bad. Outside the owner's house, poverty and misery would await them, and so the boys are in warmth and luxury. It is customary to pamper them with various gifts, and outfits, and provide pleasant signs of attention. At the same time, they receive qualified medical care, a warm room, and quality food.

4. However, despite the fact that being "Bacha" is to live in abundance and have a good opportunity to earn money, few boys can openly talk about their real life. Their fate depended solely on the moral qualities of the owner, who knew that he had practically unlimited rights to his boy.

In adulthood, "Bacha-bazi" lose their demand from the owner. They have to leave the house and live on their own.

5. The owners help someone find a decent job, or help organize a wedding for faithful service, but most of the dancing boys just stay on the street. After so many years under the patronage, it can be difficult for them to rebuild and live an ordinary life - without loved ones, and a roof over their heads.

Despite the fact that this tradition is officially banned, no one in Afghanistan hides the presence of a dancing boy in their house. On the contrary, powerful men tend to tell everyone about their unusual "acquisition" in order to increase their status in front of other people.
