Statue of naked David in St. Petersburg will be dressed because of complaints of a local resident
The five—meter—high plastic sculpture, the original of which is a marble work by Michelangelo, is located at the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence, was installed in May 2016 as part of the exhibition "Michelangelo. Creation of the world".
A 200-kilogram copy was placed on Kirochnaya Street near the Lutheran Church of St. Anna. The complaint of a certain Inna Lvovna, a resident of the city, was received on the website of the Commissioner for Children's Rights in St. Petersburg. The woman was indignant and expressed her indignation in an eloquent form: "How could it be possible to put this man without a port in the center of St. Petersburg, near a school and a church? This giant spoils the historical view of the city and disfigures children's souls!"
It was also noted that the woman did not change her opinion even after a personal conversation with specialists of the office of the Commissioner for Children's Rights. Organizers of the exhibition "Michelangelo. Creation of the World" went to meet the dissatisfied Petersburger and agreed to dress David — as part of the "Dress David" campaign, citizens were asked to send ideas for the statue's costume to the post office by August 15.
