Sex, drugs, rock and roll: stories of girls who were raped by cult rock musicians
The world of rock and roll was stirred up by sensational confessions about the facts of sexual abuse of teenagers. Famous musicians are accused of molesting their fans. After many years, the women decided to tell the truth about the rock idols that millions admired. Steven Tyler, Axl Rose and other idols of the 70s and 80s impressed fans on stage, but behind the scenes of their lives there were vices and permissiveness. Read the scandalous details about the criminal behavior of members of popular rock bands further in our material.
The women decided to openly talk about how they became victims of violence by rock stars in the new British documentary project Look Away. They revealed dark secrets from the life of idols, so that other injured girls would also not be silent. What happened behind the scene is unacceptable neither by moral standards nor by law. Confessions about how legendary musicians raped minors and hooked them on drugs shocked the entire rock industry.
Former fans of rock stars tell what horror was happening in Los Angeles in the 70s, when they met their idols. Kari Krome was 12 years old when she first visited Rodney Bingenheimer's English Disco bar on Sunset Boulevard. This infamous institution was popular among musicians. In addition, minors could get here without any problems. Singers Iggy Pop, David Bowie and members of the Led Zeppelin band came to the bar.
Kari says that teenage girls have been molested in this place more than once. She became one of those unfortunate people. The rock musician raped her right in the institution, and then offered drugs. The girl was numb with fear after the attack and could not immediately realize what had happened to her. The owners of the bar carefully concealed information about what was happening within its walls.
Later, Kari began writing songs for the female rock band The Runaways, which performed in 1976-1979. The band was produced by the famous rock musician Kim Foley. One day, he invited the band members and Kari, who was 15 years old at the time, to spend the night in his apartment. When everyone was asleep, Foley dragged Kari into his bedroom and asked her to have sex. Later, he masturbated in front of her in the nude.
Now the woman understands that it was pedophilia, but in adolescence she did not know about it. Kari says that Foley threatened her, demanding that she remain silent. He did everything to prevent her career in the rock industry.
Jackie Fox was the bass guitarist in the rock band The Runaways. The former rock musician claims that she was poisoned and raped by a producer, whom she calls "Lord Voldemort". The woman says that it happened at a party at the hotel after the band's first concert on New Year's Eve in 1975. Then she had just turned 16 years old.
The girl rarely used alcohol and did not take drugs. That evening, she drank some beer and began to get drunk quickly. Soon someone offered her methaqualone-a sedative - and then she fell asleep. Jackie is sure that something was mixed into the alcohol. She recalls that she could not move her lips, and the producer raped her in front of others. The woman claims that three men were watching what was happening, one of whom was accused of sexual abuse of a minor.
Former fashion model Sheila Kennedy claims that she was a victim of violence by rock idol Axl Rose. At that time, she was in her early 20s, and she admired the vocalist of the band Guns N’ Roses. The girl wanted to spend the night with him, but this desire turned into a nightmare.
The musician wanted to have a threesome and invited another model into the room. Sheila did not like this, and she retired to her room. In the morning, the girl woke up to screams and the sound of broken glass. The singer shouted at the model who spent the night with him, and she tried to run away. Then Rose went into Sheila's room and grabbed her. He dragged her by the hair to his bedroom and threw her on the bed. Later they made love by mutual consent, but a woman still can't forget how terribly the musician behaved.
Axl Rose has not commented on Shila's statement. In 1994, another woman accused him of sexual assault, but he denied all the charges, and the case was settled out of court.
Julia Holcomb was only 15 years old when she first heard the Aerosmith hit "Dream On" and fell in love with the main vocalist. She managed to get acquainted with the musicians, who promised to take her backstage so that she could communicate with Steven Tyler. But for this, the girl needs to dress more sexy. The girl dressed up in a swimsuit with black lace and, after talking with the singer until three o'clock in the morning, slept with him.
At that time, Tyler was 26 years old. He wanted to take Julia on a concert tour, but he needed to become her legal guardian, since the girl had not yet reached the age to travel around the states. After convincing her mother to sign the necessary documents, the musician took Julia on tour with him.
The woman recalls disturbing episodes of that time, including the case on Halloween, when she had to dress up as Alice from Wonderland. In a suit, she looked like a 12-year-old girl, which turned Tyler on very much. Julia claims that the rock star convinced her to conceive a child, and then abandoned her because his grandmother did not allow them to get married. During pregnancy, the house where the girl lived caught fire, and doctors barely saved her after carbon monoxide poisoning. After the incident, Tyler forced Julia to have an abortion, despite her objections.
Tyler's ex-lover felt powerless. Soon after, their relationship ended. She didn't even say goodbye to the musician: his lawyers took the girl to the airport, where her mother was already waiting for her. Steven Tyler did not respond to the allegations and did not agree to be interviewed.
The director of the documentary Sophie Cunningham hopes that the stories of victims will raise the problem of violence in the music industry and lead to changes for the better. Perhaps the frank confessions of women who have become victims of their idols will be able to encourage other girls not to be silent about the harassment they have suffered.
The world of Russian rock also hides many secrets. Dark tragedies from the life of Russian rock stars still remain unsolved.
