Professor Gary Greenberg from London has been researching and macro photography sand from around the world.

“Walking along the beach, we don’t even think about what treasures we are walking on,” he commented on his pictures.

3. “Every time I look at sand particles through a microscope, I am amazed at how original and complex nature is,” says Gary.

4. Shooting is done with a 3D microscope with 250x magnification. According to the professor, ordinary ultrazoom photography does not give such results. He takes dozens of shots at different focal lengths and then processes them on a computer.

5. "When you look at the photo, it seems that it is quite simple, but in fact, one shot takes several hours," he explained.

6. Sand is made up of eroded rocks, fragments of volcanic eruptions, dead organisms, and particles of man-made objects.
