Results of the largest European wildlife photography contest GDT 2013

Each such competition and its results is an event in the world of nature photography. This is the pleasure of watching the most amazing, unusual and bewitching episodes from the life of wildlife. Each frame here deserves its own story and time to look at and think about. What are the trends in European photography this year? What are the interesting objects and places to shoot? What are the shooting techniques?

1. For me, as a regular participant in this competition, this is also a great experience. After all, for each of the 20 photos uploaded to the competition, you can see which of the 4 stages it has reached. Try to understand what aroused more interest, and what remained not understood.
2. Commentary by Sergey Shanin, jury member of this year's Golden Turtle, regarding the choice of the European jury: “In general, the works of the winners make you think: why was this filmed? how is it filmed? why was it taken down? The tendency to move away from photorealism into art and other experiments is clearly visible. I see only a plus in this, although I am sure that such a turn will puzzle many.
3. On the other hand. When these new valuation standards reach Russia, the question of choice will arise. Including, in front of the members of the jury ZCH: which approach should be preferred? Brutal Russian bears or rainbow circles with delicate flowers? Teeth and claws against bokeh and pink gradients. Time will show."
