New York in 1969

Categories: Society |

It was an interesting time. It seems to be the very end of the 60s, and the city is not at all like New York from the next decade. Completely different fashion and completely different people. And the city itself somehow looks neater and more cheerful.

1969 was the year of Woodstock, anti-war demonstrations, gay riots in the Village, the first year of Nixon's presidency. This year the first Led Zeppelin album was released, Lennon and Yoko Ono got married, the Beatles recorded their last album and gave their last concert, Mario Puzo's book was published “The Godfather", "Apollo 11" landed on the moon, and "Boeing 747" made the first commercial passenger flight.
