NASA will Pay $18,000 for You to Lie in Bed and smoke Weed
How I sometimes want to throw off all responsibility from my tired shoulders, crawl to my favorite bed and spend the rest of the day in the cozy depths of countless blankets and pillows. Only the realization that laziness is still a mortal sin does not allow us to sin daily, but damn it, how tempting it sounds! I wish someone else would pay for this daily reclining…
It turns out that NASA, yes, the very National Aeronautics and Space Administration, can make a secret dream come true. And pay not even one day of high-quality laziness, but as much as 70. Also, a joint will fit, which is just enough for these two months and more.
The reason for such an attraction of generosity is very simple: now the agency is actively looking for volunteers to participate in the Rest Studies research program, during which participants will have to spend 70 days in a horizontal position and smoke various types of cannabis. For malicious laziness and tasting of jambs, the "lucky ones" will be paid 18 thousand dollars. Volunteers are allowed to read, entertain themselves with video games, Skype and smoke, smoke and smoke again.
We answer the question of what NASA wants to find out from people who have smoked 70 days of their lives. The experiment is designed to find ways to preserve the health of astronauts during long space travel. The supine position is the most acceptable imitation of the human body in zero gravity: the muscles are relaxed, there is no load. Scientists also want to understand how marijuana will affect the body during this period.
During the experiment, participants will be divided into two groups: some of the volunteers will perform various physical exercises (adapted to their "interesting" position), some will not. The entire study period can actually last from 97 to 105 days, depending on which group you belong to. The group that does not perform physical exercises will be allowed to get out of bed for the first 13 days, while maintaining bed rest. Those for whom physical education is provided will be allowed to "freebie" for 21 days. After completing the first cycle, all participants will be strictly prohibited from getting out of bed for the next 70 days.
During this period, volunteers will undergo various medical tests on the condition of the muscles, heart, nervous system and the body's ability to fight infections.
Is it really worth it?
It will almost certainly turn out that spending two months in bed is more torture than an opportunity to relax. However, all this time you will be sure that you are exhausting yourself with laziness for the benefit of human space exploration. It seems that this is the only chance to claim that you helped send the first colony to Mars, "sitting on your ass."
