Motherhood erases cultural differences: touching portraits of mothers from around the world by Michaela Norok
Since 2013, the wonderful photographer Michaela Norok has been traveling the world and documenting the beauty of women for her project "Atlas of Beauty". Having visited more than 50 countries, the Romanian also takes pictures of mothers from all over the world. Her work gives a unique opportunity to see what motherhood looks like all over the globe — from New York to Nepal, from Tokyo to Milan.
Michaela realized, being pregnant with her first child, that she perceived portraits of mothers with children in a completely different way. "There's always some chemistry and intimacy between them. There is so much beauty and kindness in these special moments." Her works demonstrate that beautiful intimacy that exists only in a mother with a child and pregnant women.
And the warmth and love that emerges in each portrait erases all cultural differences.
