Made under Churchill: household appliances have been used for half a century, and it works like new
They say that earlier the grass was greener and the water was wetter… And household appliances, apparently, were more reliable. Here's the proof: an 80-year-old British couple has not changed their household appliances for more than 50 years. Everything still works wonderfully, but the couple decided to sell this antique to update the kitchen a little.
Sidney Saunders is 83 and his wife Rachel is 81. They have been married for more than 60 years and have lived in the city of Exeter in the south of England all this time. Recently, they put up for sale a dryer, a boiler, a stove and a washing machine made in the 1950s.
The couple purchased most of the devices shortly after their wedding in 1956.
All the equipment that was made under Prime Minister Churchill is in working condition.
Even the instructions have been preserved.
Rachel said that she had not used her old washing machine for almost 12 years. At the same time, the engine is running, the car is working properly, only it leaks a little: you have to put a rag. But the dryer was last used about two months ago.
According to the couple, they are not interested in big money: they are ready to sell household appliances for the same amount as they bought them in the 50s and 60s, and hope that they will get into a museum or a private collection.
